Trump admin intensifies immigration crackdown with mass raids: ‘Preview of what’s to come’

WASHINGTON (TNND) — The Trump administration has stepped up its efforts to combat illegal immigration, carrying out two large-scale raids that led to hundreds of arrests in recent days.

In Florida, a joint operation called “Operation Tidal Wave”—involving U.S. Customs and Immigration officials and state law enforcement—resulted in the arrest of nearly 800 undocumented immigrants over four days.

“This was a major success. It was a large-scale operation. This was just a preview of what’s to come throughout the nation. All of these people are now off of our streets who otherwise have been acting with impunity and terrorizing US communities,” said Tricia McLaughlin, Assistant DHS Secretary.

Among those detained were convicted murderers, suspected and known gang members, and a Russian national wanted by Interpol.

In Colorado, another coordinated raid led to the arrest of 114 undocumented migrants. The DEA, working with local police, targeted an underground nightclub operating outside the law.

“This is an underground illegal nightclub, OK, and what was happening inside was significant drug trafficking, prostitution, crimes of violence. We seized a number of guns in there,” said Jonathan Pullen from the DEA’s Rocky Mountain Field Division.

The club was located roughly an hour from Aurora, Colorado, an area where the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua maintains a notable presence.

Meanwhile, the judiciary has started to push back against Trump’s deportation tactics. In El Paso, a federal judge ordered the release of two Venezuelan nationals held by immigration authorities, ruling that the government lacked sufficient evidence to label them as “alien enemies.”

The Trump administration has cited the Alien Enemies Act as its legal basis for deportations. However, the Supreme Court has already determined that individuals facing this designation must be given a chance to contest their removal in court. The El Paso judge reinforced this stance, mandating that detainees receive 21 days to challenge their classification.

As Donald Trump nears the 100-day milestone of his second term, a new Fox News poll shows that 55% of voters support his handling of border security.
