4 Wisconsin Beers Win Big at the 2025 World Beer Cup

The 2025 World Beer Cup crowned some of the best beers on the planet—and four brews from Wisconsin walked away with medals!

Held on May 1, this prestigious global competition judged 8,375 beverages from 1,761 breweries and cideries across 49 countries. Over the course of seven days and 14 tasting sessions, 265 expert judges from 37 nations awarded gold, silver, and bronze medals across dozens of categories.

And Wisconsin didn’t disappoint. The Badger State brought home two golds, one silver, and one bronze. Here’s a look at the winning beers:

Gold Medal: Earth Rider Brewery – North Tower Stout (Superior, WI)

Earth Rider Brewery earned top honors in the Oatmeal Stout category for its North Tower Stout—one of the brewery’s flagship offerings.

This rich stout features malty flavors of chocolate, coffee, and dark fruit, balanced by a mild hop presence. With an ABV of 6.0% and IBU of 28, it’s a repeat champion, also having won gold at the 2022 World Beer Cup.

The team at Earth Rider celebrated the win with a toast and shared their excitement across social media.

Gold Medal: New Glarus Brewing Co. – Kriek (New Glarus, WI)

New Glarus Brewing struck gold in the Belgian Fruit Beer category with its Kriek, made using Door County cherries, three-year-old hops, and Wisconsin wheat.

Boasting a 7.6% ABV and IBU of 24, Kriek is a bold, fruit-forward beer that continues New Glarus’s legacy of award-winning craft brews.

Silver Medal: New Glarus Brewing Co. – Champ Du Blanc (New Glarus, WI)

New Glarus wasn’t done yet! They also took home silver in the same category with their Champ Du Blanc.

This complex beer blends aged sour blonde ale with Chardonnay grapes, creating a unique, wine-inspired brew. It features a potent 10% ABV and a mellow IBU of 6.

Bronze Medal: Hinterland Brewery – Hinterland Altbier (Green Bay, WI)

Rounding out the list, Hinterland Brewery in Green Bay earned bronze in the German-Style Altbier category for their Hinterland Altbier.

While details about this specific beer aren’t listed on their current menu, Hinterland is known for its robust German-inspired selections—and clearly, the judges were impressed!
