A 20-year-old man accused of slashing three people outside a Manhattan bar is the son of late-night television royalty — and now faces an attempted murder charge.
Arlo Willner, son of the late “Saturday Night Live” music coordinator Hal Willner and Sheila Rogers — an Emmy Award-winning producer for James Corden and David Letterman — pleaded not guilty to the upgraded charge and other related counts during his arraignment in Manhattan Criminal Court.
The judge set bail at $100,000 cash or a $200,000 bond, which was quickly posted, allowing Willner to walk free from jail in under 24 hours.
Willner — whose 2004 birth was once noted in a New York Post column — allegedly kicked off the bloody altercation around 3:30 a.m. after approaching three men outside Sally’s Bar in Kips Bay and asking to buy cocaine, according to a criminal complaint.
When the victims told him it wasn’t the right place for that, Willner allegedly became verbally aggressive, then pulled out a knife and attacked, the complaint states.
He reportedly slashed a 46-year-old man in the neck, causing a deep wound and heavy bleeding, stabbed a 45-year-old in the shoulder, and cut a third man, in his 30s, in the stomach.
The violence ended when one of the men managed to grab the knife and toss it into the street.
In addition to attempted murder, Manhattan prosecutors have charged Willner with two counts of first-degree assault and criminal possession of a weapon.
Initially, police only charged him with assault and weapon possession.
Though the judge imposed the high bail, Willner was released within a day after celebrity bondsman Ira Judelson posted the $200,000 bond, law enforcement sources said.
Judelson, often called the “bondman to the stars,” has worked with well-known clients like Harvey Weinstein, DMX, and Ja Rule.
Willner’s mother, Sheila Rogers, won three Emmy Awards as a supervising producer for “The Late Late Show with James Corden” before it ended in 2023. She also previously worked on “The Late Show with David Letterman,” according to her LinkedIn.
His father, Hal Willner, was a beloved and long-serving music producer for “SNL” who passed away in April 2020. He had shown symptoms related to COVID-19 and died at 64, reports at the time said.
Hal was also known for creating unique, star-studded tribute albums.
Arlo Willner’s attorney, David Scott Smith, declined to comment on Sunday.
Attempts to reach Rogers and Willner were unsuccessful.
Willner is scheduled to return to court on May 22.
