FORD, Wash. — A bicyclist died Tuesday afternoon after being struck by a car in Stevens County, according to the Washington State Patrol (WSP).
Authorities say 53-year-old David James, a resident of Ford, was riding his bicycle on the southbound shoulder of Highway 231 near Ford when he attempted to cross to the northbound shoulder.
While crossing the roadway, James was hit by a vehicle traveling northbound.
He was airlifted to Sacred Heart Medical Center, where he later died from his injuries.
WSP identified the cause of the crash as James’ failure to yield. The driver of the vehicle was not injured, officials confirmed.
