Buffalo Man Charged with Identity Theft After Allegedly Stealing $45K from Out-of-State Couple

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A Buffalo man is facing identity theft charges after allegedly stealing $45,000 from an out-of-state couple, the Erie County District Attorney’s Office announced Monday.

David Gray, Jr., 42, is accused of using the couple’s personal information in March 2024 to access their business and personal checking accounts. Prosecutors say he made nine unauthorized transfers from their accounts into his own.

Gray has been charged with two counts of third-degree grand larceny and two counts of first-degree identity theft. Authorities confirmed that the victims have since been reimbursed by their bank.

If convicted, Gray could face up to seven years in prison. He is currently being held without bail.
