CHARLESTON, Ill. — The Charleston Police Department is urging residents to lock their vehicles following a recent surge in car burglaries.
In a Facebook post, officials said most of the targeted vehicles were left unlocked, making them easy targets for thieves.
To help prevent these incidents, police offered the following safety tips:
- Always lock your doors and windows, even if you’re stepping away for just a few minutes.
- Keep valuables out of plain sight.
- Try to park in well-lit, secure areas whenever possible.
