COVID-19 UPDATE: Edgewood campus visits canceled through April 14; Dane County declares state of emergency

By Alyssa Allemand

Edgewood College has canceled all campus visits until April 14.

The college announced these cancellations on March 16 in an Instagram post, and said “impacted visitors have been notified via email.” Reach out to admissions@edgewood.edu with any questions.

Campus updates from HR

Beginning March 16, campus buildings will only be accessible for those with swipe access. This restriction will last until April 6. An email to Edgewood faculty and staff from Human Resources said anyone who needs their access card activated should contact the Technology Assistance Center.

The commuter shuttles from Westwood Christian Church and New Vision Theatre will not be running until face-to-face classes resume. “Feel free to park on campus but please leave visitor spaces open,” the email said.

Search committees preparing for on-campus interviews should contact Human Resources.

Human Resources urges faculty and staff to “re-evaluate their attendance” to any upcoming conferences. “Business-related travel should be limited to that which is required and essential to perform job responsibilities,” the email said.

“If a conference is cancelled because of COVID-19, associated business-related travel expenses (conference registration fee(s) and airline ticket(s)) made within the Accounts Payable policy will be reimbursed,” said the email. “When an airline ticket is cancelled, the employee is expected to work with the airline to receive the best possible refund and/or voucher. All refunds and/or vouchers must be reported to the Business Office, as they should be used for future business travel.”

Employees are prohibited from registering for events and making business-related travel plans for the foreseeable future.

The Edgewood College President’s Council is meeting regularly to discuss next steps, said Vice President for Academic Affairs Margaret Noreuil in an email to Edgewood faculty.

Students, faculty and staff should stay tuned to their Edgewood emails, the college website and On The Edge for updates.
