The Edgewood College Eagles Athletics Program earned a 3.345 average GPA for the fall semester of 2017, an all-time high GPA for the athletic programs. A total of 26 student-athletes got a 4.0 GPA for that fall semester.
These student-athletes came from a variety of sports teams on campus, including: Baseball (1), Softball (3), Women’s and Men’s Soccer (4), Women’s and Men’s Golf (4), Women’s and Men’s Basketball (4), Women’s and Men’s Cross Country/Track and Field (5), and Volleyball (5).
Along with those achievements, 125 out of 224 student-athletes qualified to be NACC Scholar Athletes. In order to qualify for the award, a student-athlete must obtain a GPA of 3.25 or above. The 125 students make up over 60 percent of the entire student-athlete population at Edgewood College.
Represented were a myriad of sports teams at Edgewood College, including: Women’s and Men’s Tennis (8), Baseball (10), Softball (11), Women’s and Men’s Golf (12), Volleyball (15), Women’s and Men’s Cross Country/Track and Field (20), Women’s and Men’s Basketball (24), and Women’s and Men’s Soccer (25).
Edgewood’s Athletic Director, Al Brisack, expressed pride for the athletics programs. “I am very proud of what we have done,” he said. “We have amazing support people and passionate teachers.
“A 3.37 as a cumulative GPA is incredible. What I want [student athletes] to walk away remembering is put your energy into what is important to you, and invest your time with people who share the same things that are important to you.”
