Edgewood Campus School’s gallery night raises money for the “refresh project”

Edgewood Campus School held a student gallery night with artwork by students ranging from kindergarten through Grade 8 on Friday, Nov. 9.

Assistant Principal Lauren Costello, who organized the event, said the school is raising money for what they are calling a “refresh project.”

“We have this beautiful building, but it looks a little dated from the inside, so we’re trying to raise enough money to paint to whole entire building and all of the classrooms.”

Costello said this project can create a better learning environment for the students. “There’s studies out that show how different colors impact learning,” she said.

One of the main ideas for this project is to paint each of the hallways to represent a different season as well as to get new carpeting throughout the school.

One parent, who preferred not to be named, said she looks forward to the project and the positive impact it will have on the students.

Art pieces were made by individual students and collaborative pieces made by grade level were also featured. These pieces were auctioned off along with raffle baskets. The gallery night also featured free art-based activities for kids of all ages.

“Over the past five years, this is probably the best turn out we’ve ever had,” Costello said.

Costello said she hopes they can update their building for 2020. “We do so many cutting edge things as we educate our children that we just want the building to reflect that.”
