Edgewood’s spring semester schedule looks much the same as it would have in a pre-COVID world. President Andrew Manion announced in an October 29 email that the college would conduct its spring semester as posted on the academic calendar, with Spring break and Easter break remaining the same.
“We have learned some things from this semester. We’ve learned that going an entire semester without a break is stressful and exhausting and we’ve learned that your students and employees are pretty responsible about trying to avoid situations where transfer of Covid-19 is likely,” said Manion. “So, we think the healthiest thing to do for spring semester is to support mental wellness by keeping our regularly scheduled breaks, and support physical wellness by continuing our optional remote class attendance and our social distancing and mask protocols.”
Manion acknowledged that some protocols may need to be changed to allow for traveling due to spring break and spring holidays. However, information on these protocols is still to come.
Classes will still have a large online component, and some will be conducted almost fully online. Masks will still be required for all in-person classes and seating will be properly socially distanced, with desks sanitized regularly.
Fall semester was long for both students and faculty so hearing that spring and Easter breaks will be occurring as planned should bring relief to many members of the Edgewood community.
