First Community Partnership Fair connects students with internship opportunities

Edgewood College held their first ever Community Partner Internship Fair on March 3 in the Washburn Heritage Room.

The Community Partner Internship Fair was open to all Edgewood College students to help them connect with organizations and alumni, grow their professional network, and get a professional headshot for free.

A large portion of the students who attended were business majors. All business majors at Edgewood College are required to have an internship to graduate.

Currently, six business majors from Edgewood College have benefitted from the Internship Project and fulfilled part of their graduation requirement.

Twenty organizations from the Madison area attended. Yazmin Montalban, a business major, said, “It was helpful to see what internship opportunities were available in the community.”

Overall, organizations seemed pleased with the Community Partner Internship Fair.

“Attendance was good, and I was able to engage with more students than I thought I would,” said Laura Green, grants and volunteer coordinator at the Catholic Multicultural Center.

Richelle Kasten, Inclusive Internship Project coordinator, said she thought the fair went incredibly well. “For the first time having an event like this for internships on the Edgewood College campus, we got positive feedback from students who attended, staff and faculty that popped by, and the organizations that participated,” Kasten said.
