Milwaukee Man Charged in Hartland Fentanyl Overdose Death

HARTLAND, Wis. – A Milwaukee man is facing serious charges after prosecutors say he sold fentanyl-laced drugs that led to a deadly overdose in Hartland.

Terrion Walker Charged with Reckless Homicide

31-year-old Terrion Walker has been charged with first-degree reckless homicide by delivery of a controlled substance. If convicted, he could face up to 60 years in prison.

Overdose Incident on June 21, 2024

According to the criminal complaint, the victim died on June 21, 2024, from an apparent fentanyl overdose in their Hartland apartment. A roommate found the victim unresponsive and called 911. Emergency crews rushed the victim to the hospital, where they were pronounced dead.

Inside the apartment, officers found suspected drugs and paraphernalia, including plastic baggies with white powder, a plate with a line of powder, a small spoon, and razor blades. Tests by the Wisconsin State Crime Lab later confirmed the presence of fentanyl, as well as xylazine, hydrocodone, and heroin.

Witness Reveals Prior Overdose

The roommate told investigators the victim had a history of fentanyl use and had overdosed the day before in a car accident, requiring Narcan. The victim had also been arrested for a drug-related OWI following that incident.

The roommate admitted to hiding the drug plate in a closet to protect the victim but claimed they didn’t know the source of the drugs.

Text Messages Reveal Drug Transactions

Investigators, with help from the Wisconsin Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation, examined the victim’s phone. They found numerous drug-related texts with a contact saved as “Kobe Boy.”

In one message, the victim told Kobe Boy about falling asleep at the wheel, waking up in the hospital, and being surprised to receive only a citation. After searching over a thousand other conversations on various social media apps, detectives determined that Kobe Boy was the sole contact the victim communicated with about buying drugs during the relevant period.

Detectives Identify ‘Kobe Boy’ as Terrion Walker

Detectives traced the phone number used by “Kobe Boy” to a Cash App account registered to Terrion Walker. The account included:

  • Walker’s Wisconsin ID
  • A photo of Walker
  • 11 transactions with the victim, the most recent one occurring a day before the victim died

Autopsy Results

An autopsy by the Waukesha County Medical Examiner’s Office revealed the victim died from intoxication by fentanyl, acetyl fentanyl, diazepam, gabapentin, and mitragynine. Contributing conditions included amphetamine use and cardiomegaly (an enlarged heart), according to the complaint.

May 2025 Arrest and Evidence Found

On May 6, 2025, law enforcement executed a search warrant at Walker’s Milwaukee home. Inside, they found:

  • 160 grams of cocaine
  • 19.9 grams of fentanyl
  • Approximately $77,000 in cash
  • Two firearms

As a convicted felon, Walker is legally barred from possessing guns.

Court Proceedings and Upcoming Hearing

Walker pleaded not guilty on May 16, 2025, and is being held in the Waukesha County Jail on a $100,000 cash bond. A hearing is scheduled for June 13.
