David Petroff, director of Athletic Communications and assistant director of marketing and communications at Edgewood College, has left his position after nearly 11 years.
Replacing him is Brian Schipferling, who comes to Edgewood from Concordia University in Wisconsin, where he was the assistant director of athletic communications for five years.
Petroff made an impact on Edgewood. Contributions from the last 10 years serve as models for many other athletic communications and marketing teams.
“He really elevated our presence in terms of professionalism within that department,” Athletic Director Al Brisack said.
The Sports Information Director provides training and management for graduate assistants, sub-contracted event workers, and work-study students. Graduate Assistant in Athletic Communications Anna Blake said Petroff taught her about the transition from undergraduate to professional, and how to have and find confidence in her job.
Brisack said the job impacts student athletes. “This is the office that promotes their stories or tells their stories, and that’s ultimately what we want to try to do – is share with those people that have an interest or those people who don’t yet know they have an interest the stories of our student athletes.”
