The Edgewood College Theater Department recently announced the four productions for 2022-2023 via email. The season will consist of:  “Five Women Wearing the Same Dress,” “25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee,” “She Kills Monsters,” and student-directed one acts.

Faculty select the season each year and rely on  input from the Theater Assembly Planning Committee (TAPCO), as well as other theater students.

The season will begin with “Five Women Wearing the Same Dress,” a comedy about bridesmaids at a wedding. Auditions will be held May 2 and May 3 from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. All students are welcome to attend, and are invited to contact director Audrey Standish or stage managers Isabel Vreeke and Alison Hurda for more information on auditions.

“25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee,” the department’s musical selection for the year, will fill the season’s second slot. This production, directed by Dr. Jeanne Leep, will run Nov. 11-12 and Nov. 17-19, 2022.

Prof. Susan Nanning-Sorenson will direct “She Kills Monsters,” a play inspired by the roleplay game, Dungeons and Dragons. Performances will be Feb. 24-25, March 2-4, 2023

The season will end with student-directed one acts, for which content will be determined at a later date. Upper level students in the One-Act Play Production class will select their plays during the Spring 2023 semester, then cast and direct the plays themselves.

Edgewood theatre productions are open to all students and offer a variety of ways to participate including: acting,  props, lighting, sound, theatre management, costumes, hair and makeup, and sets crews.
