A murder investigation is underway after a woman’s dismembered body was found on Gran Canaria’s Los Enanos beach. The 41-year-old Colombian woman had texted a friend about attending a party before she was found dead.
The body showed clear signs of a violent death, and authorities are working to uncover more details about the events leading up to her tragic end. The contents of her last known message remain undisclosed.
A passerby discovered the body and immediately alerted the authorities. Police believe the woman was stabbed in the neck before being dismembered.
The Guardia Civil has arrested David S, a local bar owner in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, in connection with the murder. The suspect, who owns the Arenales cafe-bar, was taken into custody at his residence in Las Torres and is expected to appear in court soon.
Officers from the Guardia Civil’s Criminalistics and Homicide Units searched the Arenales bar for any evidence, with forensic experts seen collecting sealed bags from the scene. While the investigation is ongoing, police have not ruled out further arrests.
This tragic incident comes shortly after another grisly discovery in Mallorca. In March, a severed human foot and lower leg were found on a popular beach near a nightclub. A tourist made the grim discovery, just hours after a woman’s body was found in the same area.
Initially, it was thought the foot and leg belonged to the woman, but further investigations revealed that the size of the remains likely indicated they belonged to a man. Divers later located the body parts off the coast.
This marks the 10th case of human remains washing up on the shores of the Balearic Islands since the start of 2025. Authorities suspect that these remains belong to migrants who attempted to cross the Mediterranean by small boats or rafts from Algeria, likely in a bid to enter Europe illegally.
