Two Arrested for Selling Crack Cocaine in Separate Drug Investigations in Huntingdon County

HUNTINGDON COUNTY, Pa. (WAJ) — State police and agents from the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General have charged two Mount Union residents in connection with separate drug investigations involving controlled purchases of crack cocaine.

On May 15, authorities charged 39-year-old Kahlena Shanaya Carmichael and 48-year-old Shawn A. Catlett, both of whom live together in Mount Union, according to court records.

In Carmichael’s case, a confidential informant contacted state police earlier this year, claiming they could obtain crack cocaine from her. Between March and May 2024, investigators allege that Carmichael conducted three separate crack cocaine sales during controlled buys in the Mount Union area.

Separately, in August 2024, agents from the Attorney General’s Office debriefed another informant who claimed to know someone named “Shaed,” identified through Carmichael. Investigators later confirmed “Shaed” to be Catlett. Agents allege he conducted two controlled crack cocaine sales in August and September 2024.

Following the investigations, both suspects were charged with multiple felonies. Catlett faces six charges, including possession with intent to deliver, criminal use of a communication facility, and possession of a controlled substance.

Carmichael faces the same charges but on 12 counts, reflecting a greater number of alleged transactions.

Both suspects were arraigned on May 16 and taken to Huntingdon County Prison. Their bail was set at $200,000 each.
