COVID-19 UPDATE: UW-Madison cancels in-person instruction for remainder of Spring 2020

The University of Wisconsin-Madison announced the institution is suspending face-to-face classes for the rest of the Spring 2020 semester in response to regulations and guidelines around the COVID-19 pandemic.

Edgewood College has not announced any changes to its planned April 6 resume date. The college did announce Tuesday afternoon that the Oscar Rennebohm library will be closed beginning March 17 at 4:30 p.m. until further notice.

UW-Madison Chancellor Rebecca Blank wrote in the release, “We will shift to alternate delivery of courses from March 23 through the end of the spring semester, including final exams. Students will receive information about instruction as plans are completed.”

The university also told students with spring break travel plans to consider whether they need to come back to Madison and to stay at their permanent residences if possible.

“I share the disappointment of students and employees who were anticipating Terrace chairs, sunny days on Bascom and all of the events that make spring special at UW-Madison,” Blank said. “This is not the semester that any of us wanted.”
