A 33-year-old woman was arrested nearly a month after allegedly trying to take back a towed vehicle from a Miami-Dade towing company, according to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office.
The incident occurred on April 29 at Sunshine Towing, located at 7070 SW 12th St.
Authorities said Monserrat Rivera, of Tamarac, went to the business to recover a vehicle that had been towed from an undisclosed location. Deputies reported she was seen entering the rear gate of the lot—marked “employees only”—where towed vehicles are stored.
According to the arrest report, Rivera then entered an office within another restricted area and got into an argument with an employee. As the employee approached her and attempted to guide her out, Rivera allegedly pushed the employee with her left arm.
The confrontation was recorded on the company’s surveillance cameras, deputies confirmed.
Rivera turned herself in on Wednesday at the MDSO Midwest District Station, where she invoked her right to an attorney.
She now faces multiple charges, including:
- Burglary with assault or battery
- Burglary of an occupied structure
- Battery
