On Feb. 25, opening night of “Sister Act,” Edgewood College theater’s new soundboard had a technical issue involving the audio cutting in and out, the cause of which remains unknown.

Christopher Dunham, technical director for the Edgewood College Theatre, said he did not know what caused this issue.

“There were theories, there were ideas, but no one could say ‘oh that happens when you do this’…we honestly do not know exactly what caused it,” said Dunham.

Dunham said that he is now working with those who were present on the night of the glitch to remedy the problem.

However, even with this issue, the actors on stage kept the performance going and finished the show.

Olivia Rose, who plays Deloris in “Sister Act,” said she still felt confident despite this glitch.

“I felt no fear. I knew what came next in the script and I was prepared to carry on without music  because the show must go on,”  said Rose.

Additionally, this is one of a few performances, and the first musical that Edgewood Theater has put on indoors during COVID with a live audience.

Rose expressed how energizing it was to perform in front of a live audience for this musical. “I like being able to interact with the audience and feed off their energy,”she said.

“Sister Act” is sold out for both weekends of its performance.
